Dipika Gupta, Owner, and Designer at KAVI KAVI Proposes Education for Economic Development

Education has many benefits. Not only do you personally benefit from receiving an education in terms of revenue, career improvement, talent, and employment opportunities, but your society and community also reap the benefits of education. Dipika Gupta owns KAVI KAVI; a successful designer brand focused on creating sustainable fashion and vegan skincare based in Montreal. She believes in the power of education; societies with higher academic degrees and educational levels are generally healthier and have higher rates of economic stability, less crime, and greater equality.

Coming from a vegetarian background in North India, Dipika has a tangible cultural heritage, and her values are a fusion of her South Asian and North American roots. Her family moved to Canada in the mid-’80s. She has been working in the sphere of fashion ever since she graduated from Toronto’s George Brown. She’s a vegetarian through and through and believes in the healing power of a purely organic, plant-based way of life.

Dipika strongly believes that anyone in power should give back to the community. You have a responsibility toward the downtrodden and underprivileged. She thinks the best way to help is by ensuring that each child is offered proper education and each individual has access to resources that can increase their productivity for a better life. Poor access to education is considered the cause of poverty.

The lack of education can lead to a cycle of poverty. However, access to it can mean breaking out of this cycle. Dipika says that, on the other hand, those with education have more options on their plate, making them more successful in life. They learn how to manage their time and talents to become more productive. She believes that once these students are done with their studies, they can bring this abundant energy to the practical world, aiding their community and, subsequently, their country’s economic development.

People with education can think and think well. Dipika believes that education requires you to ask questions, reflect upon, and analyze everything — all these are critical skills that help with success later on. She also thinks that increasing students’ responsibility with each year of education they complete strengthens their sense of responsibility, ultimately leading to self-discipline, which is integral for success.

This is the reason behind Dipika’s efforts; she is spreading awareness to families back in her homeland, making them realize the importance of education for a better, financially secure life. She believes a better future can only happen if you educate younger generations. Economic stability and development depend on that sole factor, as it drives a nation toward success. She spends a portion of her brand KAVI KAVI’s earnings to help by giving back to the community and works with the children living in slums back in India to raise their standard of living, helping them gain access to free education.
