What video calling program to use?

It is not a question of budget.

In recent months, it has become more than necessary to have a program or platform to make video calls with clients and collaborators.

The idea is not to list them, surely you already use them, and you are even somewhat exhausted from so much offer … ufffff!

And as you may have noticed, there is no perfect program to make a video call, nor to  manage teleworking . But there is the correct solution that best suits your company.

The one that works in a friendly company, may not work in ours.

In many cases the need exceeded the possibility of planning, and forced as so many times to solve at the moment a problem that seemed to be transitory, although today it is evident that it is no longer something temporary.

When normalcy returns to our lives, many of us will have realized that we were doing things wrong. Having so many people moving from one place to another, wasting invaluable time, and spending an amount of money on travel expenses, can be one of them.

Today’s circumstance revealed many things, including the lack of good management, planning and strategy as agenda items. And I’m not saying with this that we should have been prepared for a pandemic, much less, nor to play guessing games, but let’s think about this: Your company has a team of IT experts, who in turn to work in your company , they know part of your business. Use this resource only to carry out, for example, internal team management on internet claims at a provider, believe me, you are not interested.

Doesn’t it sound better to you to have their experience to develop and search for new technologies that help to enhance and optimize your business? And this is about. That’s what the IT area  of your company should be dedicated to.

How to choose the right video calling platform?

The platform to choose has to be the one that is best aligned with the rest of the corporate tools that are already implemented in your company, the IT area will know how to advise you just like us. I mean with this, that it is not always good to diversify, much less go shopping for fashion (or price).

Why is it not a question of budget?

I do not doubt that perhaps the finance team (or human resources) of your company has made the calculation of the savings it had during these months in travel expenses, would there be a problem in allocating a large part of that saving in new licenses? No. As you can see, it is not a budget issue, it is a planning and strategy issue.

Look, a company “X” overnight set out to spend US $ 14.99 per month buying licenses from one of the companies that was heard the most in recent times, without having previously resolved its license for the suite of office automation best known in the market.

Yes of course, I am talking about Zoom and Microsoft. They decided to spend US $ 14.99 per month, instead of investing US $ 160 per year in the most popular package that Microsoft has for the company, which is the Microsoft 365 Business Standard. In this way, it could solve both problems, that is, license the Office suite accordingly through its latest version (which will also always be updated to the latest version available) and, in turn, access a platform such as  Microsoft Teams  with which be able to make video calls with up to 250 participants simultaneously.

Again, it is not a budget issue.

Today, when technology should certainly be at our service and help us solve our problems and make our lives easier. Sometimes I get the impression that in some ways it complicates more than it helps. Undoubtedly we will have to start thinking and rethinking many things for the future, and I have no doubt that IT should finally be at the center of the table for a good time.
