Recognizing a Shining Light – Influencer & Brain Health Expert Dr. Ketam Hamdan Awarded MAX’s Woman of the Year

In the words of Charles de Lint, “Every time you do a good deed, you shine the light a little further into the dark. And the thing is, when you are gone, that light is going to keep shining on, pushing the shadows back.” Dr. Ketam Hamdan is an embodiment of this statement and a beacon of hope for many struggling to heal themselves and live happier lives.

Dr. Hamdan was recently voted and presented with the prestigious Muslim Achieving Excellence (MAX) – Woman of the Year Award for her unsurpassed contribution to mental health, brain development and spirituality for holistic growth. This honor is a tribute to her role as a transformative leader in her community.

Dr. Hamdan believes that traditional talk therapy is outdated and does not work for the majority of people who have unresolved trauma. Her own frustration with traditional therapy inspired her to develop a more holistic and integrated approach to healing. Dr. Hamdan has spent over ten years working in the mental health sector and founded Brain Health,  a platform rooted in what she calls Total Intelligence (TQ). This approach combines a variety of insights from neuroscience, psychology, leadership, and spirituality to help individuals better understand, accept, and grow holistically.

During her career, Dr. Hamdan has achieved a number of groundbreaking accomplishments in the field of mental health. Certified as an advanced trauma therapist with a speciality in brain science, Dr. Hamdan dedicates her life’s work to helping people awaken and become more conscious of the issues that hold them back and keep them stuck. Her latest project is in using a variety of Neurotherapy interventions such as brain scans (also known as quantitative electroencephalogram QEEG), neurofeedback and biofeedback, a method of training one to regulate bodily processes like heart rate and for improving brain functioning which in turn can positively affect mood, lower anxiety, increase executive functioning, and enhance performance.

“Most of us don’t know ourselves. Many of us are wounded children, walking around in adult bodies. We obsess about our relationship with others, but what about the most important relationship we have, the one with ourselves?” How many people know that the self is the product of patterns of interconnectivity of neurons in the brain, which are shaped through our life experiences, especially early on in life. These experiences are stored in our brain and affect our behavior, but very few of us are aware.”

Her passion inspires her to do more than just therapy or brain scans, she also dedicates her time to training workshops, speaking engagements, and training other mental health professionals in more advanced interventions that are not so mainstream. So far, thousands of people have benefited from this approach, and there are still thousands more to come.

A woman of many talents, Dr. Hamdan is also well-known for her role as an educator and content creator on Instagram, where she has amassed an impressive 119k followers. She leverages her knowledge to help people deal with day-to-day mental health challenges through engaging, educational, and easy-to-digest insights.

“My life mission is to awaken people to understand and heal themselves. We need to learn to live a more conscious life, not one run by the unconscious wounds of our past. But we need to hold mental health to a higher standard that extends beyond traditional talk therapy.”

Dr. Hamdan is truly a trailblazer in mental health growth and healing, advocating for the importance of both individual spiritual capital and total intelligence. She has been a tremendous force for the greater good in her community and is a deserving recipient of the MAX’s Woman of the Year Award. We congratulate her on her impressive accomplishments and wish her work would continue to serve as an example for those seeking healing.
