Success doesn’t come overnight; it takes consistent hard work, dedication, and motivation to follow your dreams in order to reach the heights you are destined for. Dr. Brenda Joseph-Juste, the founder of Meagan’s Academic Tutorial Center, is a skillful leader and a dedicated teacher with an inspiring journey of rising against the odds. She started her career in education with a vision to help students achieve their academic goals. As an educator, she takes pride in helping and guiding her students academically and morally.
She began as a 4th-grade teacher at Saint Monica Catholic School right after graduating in Human Services from Saint Thomas University with a minor in Elementary Education. She believes that both academic progress and self-development are essential components of good teaching methodology. During her time teaching in Saint Monica, her expertise and exceptional teaching skills helped students get high scores on their end-of-year reading state assessments. This was just the beginning of many highs in her journey, and she was commended for her role and promoted to Reading Director.
She also completed her Master’s in Exceptional Student Education from the same university. Her passion for teaching led her to work towards earning a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University. Dr. Juste believes that teaching is gratifying as it allows you to build a strong connection with your students. Seeing them grow and develop their careers leaves you with immense satisfaction and a sense of achievement. Therefore, for her dissertation, she focused primarily on evaluating the Houghton Mifflin Reading Program and assessing its effectiveness in improving students’ reading scores.
Possessing this unstoppable energy and aura has helped her grow and prosper in her career. After leaving Saint Monica, she started working as a 3rd-grade teacher at Miami Dade County Public School, where she also served as a math, science, and reading coach. Dr. Juste’s dedication toward her students is applaudable and is evident in their consistent good results, high scores, and personality. She pushes her students to try their best and master all core subjects, such as reading, writing, and math. Seeing the performance, expertise, and work ethic that she emulated in her classes, the school promoted her to the position of Curriculum Specialist.
Throughout her journey, she was appointed to perform different roles, which she completed outstandingly. These experiences also helped her evolve and learn leadership skills, qualities helping her govern her academy. Today she owns Meagan’s Academic Tutorial Center, an after-school tutoring company, and she aims to expand her business and continue making waves as an educationist and a leader.
